GSWA Fires at the Mack Talk

Professor Gordon Gibb, a former student and lecturer in architecture at Glasgow School of Art, shares his insight into the fires that led to the loss of “the Mack”, Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterwork.

Professor Gibb studied and taught in the building during a period spanning nearly fifty years. As a forensic architect, he investigated the causes of the fires.  This led him to be openly critical of the school’s management. Thereafter he and the GSA parted ways. Join us for a fascinating insight into one of the nations worst architectural heritage losses and the story behind the story
